Expert Witness Testimony
Helping the court understand psychological evidence: what was measured, how, and what it means for the legal question.
Psychological findings rarely speak for themselves. A memory score, a personality profile or a diagnosis has to be connected to the question the court is deciding, such as whether an injury caused a loss, or what risk a student presents. An expert witness makes that connection and explains the reasoning so non-clinicians can weigh it.

What a Psychological Expert Can Do in a Case
- Review psychological and neurological findings
- Review medical records for findings relevant to the case
- Independently analyze neuropsychological evaluations
- Critique psychological reports prepared by other experts
- Prepare an expert report
- Give deposition testimony
- Testify in court as required
Standards an Expert Opinion Should Meet
An opinion is only useful if it survives scrutiny. Dr. Tutty's opinions are built to answer the questions opposing counsel will ask:
- Method. Were standardized, validated procedures used, and used correctly?
- Data. Were enough sources gathered: testing, interview, records, collateral information?
- Alternatives. Were other explanations for the findings considered and addressed?
- Limits. Does the opinion say what the data cannot show as clearly as what it can?
That standard applies whichever side retains him.
